Moving from pivpn is now one command: install takes over a pivpn WireGuard server, and every device keeps its current config.

    Changes

    • Install takes over pivpn. On a server that runs pivpn's WireGuard, install offers to take it over: the server key, port, MTU, tunnel networks (IPv4 and IPv6), endpoint, DNS, AllowedIPs and keepalive, and every client with its public key, preshared key and addresses. Phones and laptops keep their configs and reconnect on their own; nothing has to be scanned or sent again. Clients pivpn switched off are imported switched off, with the note "Imported from pivpn". Client private keys, which pivpn keeps in /etc/wireguard/configs, are not read or stored.
    • The switch is checked and can be undone. Install notes which devices are connected, stops pivpn's WireGuard, starts GHOSTWIRE on the same wg0 and reports which devices are back within 30 s. Press Enter to skip the wait, or use -no-wait in scripts. If the service does not stay running, install puts pivpn back as it was.
    • Unattended takeover with -import-pivpn. Without a terminal, install refuses to run next to pivpn unless this flag is given.
    • Uninstall without a config leaves the WireGuard interface alone and removes only GHOSTWIRE's firewall table, so it can no longer remove an interface that belongs to someone else.
    • The Dashboard heading has no buttons any more. Server is in the sidebar and Add peer on the Peers page.

    Update

Copy the binary for your server to it and run, as root:

    chmod +x GHOSTWIRE-v0.8.0-linux-amd64
    sudo ./GHOSTWIRE-v0.8.0-linux-amd64 update

Servers on v0.7.1 show this release under Settings → Updates with the exact commands. For a new installation, or to move from pivpn, use install instead of update; see "Moving from pivpn" in the README.
